Liposuction is one of the most
popular aesthetic (cosmetic) surgical operations in the
western world. Liposuction technique allows the plastic
surgeon to remove localized collections of fatty tissue from
the legs, buttocks, abdomen, back, calves, ankles, arms,
face and neck using a high-vacuum device.
Liposuction can
be performed on several areas of the body at the same time,
and it can also be done in conjunction with other aesthetic
surgical operations. The procedure leaves small scars, often
only 0,5-1 centimeters in length.
In liposuction
fat is removed by inserting a small hollow tube (cannula)
through one or more small incisions near the area of fatty
deposits. The cannula is connected to a vacuum pressure unit
by tubing, and the suction device guided by the surgeon
removes the unwanted fat to create an improved body contour.
Skin tightening occurs due the elastic nature of the skin,
but persons with deficient skin tone may require additional
surgical procedures to tighten loose skin (buttock lift,
thigh lift etc.) . Liposuction surgeries are accomplished
under general or local anesthesia, depending on the
operation.
