Ear surgery can
be performed on both children and adults. In this surgical
procedure the ears are positioned closer to the head by
reshaping the supporting tissue (cartilage). This is usually
accomplished through incisions placed behind the ears so
that subsequent scars will be concealed in a natural skin
crease. The operation takes normally 1 to 2 hours, and it is
accomplished under local or general anesthesia.
Incisions must
be kept clean and dry. Stitches are removed after 7 days.
